Going green in 2026: No drastic resolutions required

Some people spend that mysterious ‘in-between week’– you know, the quiet space between the end of December and New Year’s Day – colour-coding next year’s goals, facing their to-do lists with fresh determination and creating a battle plan to tackle their inbox.

Others simply glide into the new year with a calm, ‘We’ll see what happens.’

Whichever one you are, here’s something important:

Going green in 2026 can be for you.
No personality change required. No major resolutions. Just small swaps with a big impact.

Why going green isn’t only for hardcore eco-warriors

Going green’ often sounds as if it demands a big lifestyle shift: growing your own vegetable garden, starting a compost bin and making sure every single item in your home is perfectly sustainable. While those are wonderful goals, they’re not the only way to live more eco-friendly.

In reality, it can be much simpler.

It can be as easy as choosing zero-waste detergent instead of harsh chemical ones that mess every time you try to use them. It can be lighting your braai with natural fire starters instead of chemical blocks (and sparking a conversation about them). It can be choosing bamboo toilet paper that’s kinder to the planet (and your bum). These tiny choices quietly add up, exactly as we saw in last year’s product-impact statistics. Everyday actions, real results.

If you love resolutions, here’s the good news

Greener living fits beautifully into goals such as:

  • ‘I want to save money.’ Concentrates, refills and eco-combos help with that.
  • ‘I want a cleaner space, home and energy.’ Natural cleaners still do the job, without harsh fumes.
  • ‘I want to reduce waste.’ Biodegradable options make it easier than trying to decode every label on the shelf. (Especially when there is an ingredient page!)

Your resolution doesn’t have to be ‘become a perfect eco-human’.

It can simply be ‘make small sustainable swaps’.
And those count more than you know.

If you don’t do resolutions, it still works for you

Maybe lists aren’t your thing. Maybe you prefer to take life as it comes. Honestly – same. When life starts to feel overwhelming and repetitive, I close the curtains, return to my comfort series and forget about all of my lists.

But even then, sustainable living still fits, because it can be:

No pressure. No guilt. Just:
‘I ran out of detergent – I’ll try the eco-friendly one next.’

That alone is an impact you can feel good about.

‘If I decide to do this, what will a greener 2026 look like for me?’

Simple – it’s your everyday moments, just … greener.

Most of your routines stay exactly the same.
The difference lies in the
impact, not in losing your spontaneity or comfort.

So, what kind of 2026 are you planning?
